I founded The Politics Outlook in September 2023 to widen political literacy, and combat misinformation. Educating about echo chambers has always been a key part of our mission - through our workshops, podcasts and articles. By presenting a wide range of youth perspectives, we can limit the increasingly divisive political landscape. The aim of The Politics Outlook is not to change or influence views, but to investigate where these views come from. Once an individual realises the forces which dictate their opinions, our job is done. They now possess the skills to examine any perspectives knowing they have only received part of the story.

Ivan Bashaev

Co-CEO

I am Ivan Bashaev, currently studying the IB in the Lower Sixth Form. Despite being passionate about politics and having political views as the majority of the population do, I believe it is essential for the younger population to be presented with unbiased information, in order for them to be able to form their own views on political matters. This is what The Politics Outlook is all about.

I am a sixth former studying science based A Levels. I find the possibility of a future generation with limited political knowledge immensely worrying for the future of society in the UK. As a result I find it essential to educate the younger generations in order to avoid biased information or political opinions and to hence avoid the negatives of echo chambers and one-sided opinion in society.

I am currently studying my GCSEs at Whitgift School. I joined The Politics Outlook to help students gain political awareness in a time when young people's critical thinking skills are more important than ever. With the social media and fake news surrounding us, we are more susceptible to echo chambers and only viewing a narrow range of opinions. So we must initiate the conversation around political awareness and encourage more interaction with current affairs.

Nikita Druzhinin

Editorial Director

My Father comes from Kyiv, Ukraine, and my Mother was born in Moscow, Russia. Since the invasion of Ukraine my life has changed for ever. Through the years I witnessed countless cases of false information, propaganda, and lies spread across a plethora of medias to antagonize people against each other. Political Polarization of people from a young age has become a weapon in hands of malicious entities and governments. This is why here, for me, at Politics Outlook, the strive to educate people about politics and harmful disinformation is not only a school project, but also a personal struggle to make things better. That is what I hope to achieve as the Director of articles and publications, to ensure all people have an equal voice and together as a community we make the world a little better through education: our strongest weapon.

Co-Workshops Director

Growing up, I have seen firsthand the frequency and commonality of echo chambers and political illiteracy within youth settings across the world; from political polarization in Turkey to the constant stream of biased information on Tik Tok. Consequently, as an IGCSE student aspiring to go into politics, I wholeheartedly agree with the aim of the Politics Outlook. I hope to use my role as the workshop director to help our team in breaking echo chambers and initiating the conversation - a necessity in educating a politically literate generation.

Freddie Gilbert-Hodd

Co-Workshops Director

I decided to become part of The Politics Outlook because it offers an incredible opportunity to enhance my communication and critical thinking skills. Furthermore, the collaborative student lead environment makes it much easier to work towards the goal of getting other pupils interested and aware of the politics that surrounds them.
