03: The Budget Debate – Rachel Reeves’s Budget, long-term growth and huge tax rises

In this debate episode, Oli McGuinness is joined by Freddie Cary and Ernest Wright who debate the motion: “This house believes the Budget will allow for long-term growth and no more large tax rises will be needed”. Freddie, for the proposition, claims that the Chancellor’s tax rises are justified as they can fix the NHS and rejuvenate the UK via capital investment, all leading to long-term growth. On the other hand, Ernest argues that the huge measures taken by Reeves will result in huge debt and that the NIC hike will reduce firms’ capabilities to grow the economy. Both debaters battle passionately, defending their arguments and refuting the other’s. Vote below for who you believe argued better. Recorded: 11/12/2024

I am Oli McGuinness and in this post-election rundown, I am joined by Oliver Blench, Gowrthan Pirahalathan and Joseph Hewlett. 01: US Election Debate - Immigration Policy

In this pre-election debate episode, I am joined by Ethan Carmalt and Saxon Whymark who argue for and against the motion: 'This house believes that the US should continue to build a wall as a solution to immigration'. We discuss the policies of Trump and Harris and the significance of immigration as an election issue. As the two debaters fiercely back their candidate's view, the arguments entail a range of snappy comebacks and convincing defense. Vote for who you believe argued better. Recorded: 15/10/2024
